    The human eye is a marvel of biological engineering, capable of processing a vast dynamic range of light and shadow. A camera sensor, by contrast, is far more limited. What appears as a dramatic, moody sweep of light to a fan in the stadium can translate into a grainy, underexposed shot on television. A dazzling flash of strobes that electrifies the live crowd might cause a camera to "white out," losing all detail and jarring the broadcast viewer.
